Gartner defines hybrid mesh firewalls (HMFs) as a SaaS-based offering implementing in-line bidirectional stateful inspection through hardware (on-premises), virtual and dedicated cloud firewall enforcement types. HMFs are designed to support hybrid environments and related use cases by offering mature continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline integration, native cloud integration and advanced threat prevention capabilities.
